Arsenal vs Manchester United Match Preview

Rivals Arsenal and Manchester United play on Saturday evening, with both teams coming into the game in good form. Arsenal have moved into the top four after five wins from six, while Manchester United remain second and are desperate to stay within touching distance of their city rivals. Our Analyst has previewed the game, producing the best bets.

The Gunners come into this game in great form, having thumped Huddersfield in midweek, with the relationship between Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette and Alexis Sanchez seemingly blossoming. They created a host of chances in that game, 3.7 xG, and punished their opponents by hitting them for five.

Arsenal’s process so far this season has been impressive, generating 29.3 xG in 14 matches, while conceding only 16.1 xG. Arsene Wenger looks to have found a system that suits, but there are still questions about overall team performances, as well as player selection against the big clubs.

Arsenal undoubtedly have the attacking capabilities to cause Manchester United plenty of problems, but they are vulnerable in defence which should help contribute to an entertaining game.

Manchester United beat Watford last time out, though were fortunate to hit the net four times from the chances they created (1.5 xG). Jose Mourinho’s team are currently in second place, and are trying to stay on the coattails of Manchester City, who don’t look like slowing down.

Though United’s results have been impressive so far this season, their process has been only the fifth-best in the league. They have conceded only eight goals this season, but based on the chances they have conceded they should have conceded nearer to 16 (16.1 xG).

The Red Devils have the attacking capabilities to cause their opponents plenty of problems, but the tactics that Mourinho will implement will have the biggest impact in this match – will he take on Arsenal or park the bus?

BTTS @ 4/6

Both teams have plenty of attacking talent, and both have looked vulnerable defensively at times this season. A relatively open game is expected at the Emirates, with both teams getting on the scoresheet.

Arsenal win @ 6/4

Arsenal come into this on the back of some great results and good performances, and they have an excellent home record this season also (7 wins from 7). They are the more likely winners.
